The basis of Nutritional Therapy
Nutritional Therapy is the application of nutrition science to promotion health and vitality. As a Nutritional therapy practitioner I use a wide range of tools to assess and identify potential nutritional imbalances and understand how these may contribute to your symptoms and health concerns. This approach allows me to work with you to address nutritional balance and help support your body towards maintaining health. Nutritional therapy is recognised as a complementary medicine and is relevant for you if you have a chronic condition, as well as if you are looking for support to enhance your health and wellbeing.
I will consider each of you as unique and recommend personalised nutrition and lifestyle programs rather than a ‘one size fits all’ approach. I wouldn’t recommend nutritional therapy as a replacement for medical advice and always refer you back to your GP with ‘red flag’ signs or symptoms. I will also work alongside your medical professional or other healthcare professionals involved in your care to explain any nutritional therapy program.
Why use Nutritional Therapy?
You may simply want to check that they are on the right track with regard to healthy eating. You may want to lose weight or get help with your symptoms.
I recognise that you are an individual with unique requirements and take time to define personalised nutrition plan rather than a ‘one size fits all’ approach.
Nutrition and lifestyle approaches to healthcare have been shown to support the health of all the major systems of the body (skeletal, muscular, nervous, respiratory, cardiovascular, digestive, excretory, endocrine, immune, reproductive and integumentary [skin, hair, nails]). Typical priorities in nutritional therapy consultations are support to achieve optimum energy levels, healthy blood sugar balance, emotional and psychological wellbeing, optimum gastrointestinal health and tolerance to a broad range of food groups.
What to expect from a Nutritional Therapy Consultation
Before you come for your appointment I will have sent you a questionnaire to fill out about your current health concerns, symptoms, past medical history and family medical history. I will then evaluate your individual needs and use evidence based nutritional science to develop a personalised, safe and effective nutrition and lifestyle program. This session will take 60 minutes.
Follow up consultation are recommended in order to monitor progress and make any necessary adjustments.
My aim as a Nutritional Therapist is to find the root cause of your health problem rather than suppressing symptoms, and to bring your body back into balance, health and vitality. This is an holistic and complementary therapy and I am happy and qualified to work along side your doctor or consultant should you have a specific medical condition.
